The Mexico Amazon Logistics (AMZL) team is seeking an Automation Project Engineer to own and execute deployments of automated Material Handling Equipment (MHE) into our Mexican Delivery Station Network.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Emerging Countries Engineering team and will be responsible to execute deployments of Automation systems in the Delivery Station network in Mexico including design, project management, installation, commissioning and ramp up performance tracking.
This role requires experienced Engineers with combined automation, engineering, planning and execution skills. This individual will deliver implementation projects and will partner with Process Engineering teams, Operations leaders, Facilities and Engineering teams to effectively deploy and operate advanced technology across Amazon's last mile network.
This role will be based in Mexico City and involves frequent domestic travel as well as occasional international travel. You will also partner with WW counterparts to benchmark and support parallel development projects.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and own automation deployments for MX last mile operations
- Author business cases to introduce automation to the Delivery Stations network in MX and improve performance
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide technical documentation such as flow diagrams, equipment layouts, installation details, schedules and budgets for new automation systems to understand integration impacts on existing processes and building design
- Support lessons learnt program for new automation system to understand improvements needed for next generation design iterations
- Work with design and controls teams to detail out integration plans for MHE automation
- Support execution of new MHE automation installations in partnership with field teams, defining the scalable turnkey deployment approach that field teams will utilize in the production environment
- Support development and implementation of Service and Maintenance concepts for AMZL Field teams
- 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level
- Experience working with Material handling equipment (MHE)
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English
- Master's degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering
- Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions
- Knowledge of SQL at the intermediate level
- Experience with PLC programming, VFDs, HMI / SCADA, Safety PLCs and circuits and electrical - controls troubleshooting

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree- 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level
- Experience working with Material handling equipment (MHE)
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with and managing third party vendors- Master's degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering
- Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions
- Knowledge of SQL at the intermediate level
