Recruiter screen and (for most SDE roles) an online assessment, one technical phone screen, then a single-day interview loop of four to six 45–60 minute sessions mixing coding, system design, and Leadership-Principle behavioral rounds. A Bar Raiser from outside the hiring team joins the loop and can veto the hire.

Amazon.com is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Development Engineer to join the Digital Acceleration team. The Digital Acceleration team owns services supporting the publishing, pricing and purchase of Digital content, including Kindle Books, Amazon AppStore, Amazon Music, Amazon Video, etc.
This candidate will be joining a team working on scalable web services using cloud technologies and offers opportunity to work on Gen-AI LLM technology. The work will be highly visible to Amazon customers and internal stakeholders.
As a Software Development Engineer, this person will lead the architecture and development of high-scale web services and workflows. A successful candidate will have an established background in designing and developing back-end web services, strong technical skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, high creativity, and great analytical reasoning skills.
Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE2) on the Digital Pricing and Promotions team, you will design and build software solutions that power promotional capabilities across Amazon's Digital Acceleration (DA) businesses — including Kindle, Prime Video, and Music. You will own and evolve critical platforms that deliver promotional management, competitive pricing intelligence, and operational automation to pricing managers, business teams, and product managers across DA.
You will take meaningful ownership of key products — particularly the Promos UI platform — driving features from initial design through deployment and ongoing maintenance. Your work will span full-stack development: crafting user interfaces with modern web technologies, building robust backend services in Java on AWS, and integrating with Retail promotion systems such as PLM (Promotion Lifecycle Management).
In this role, you will make architectural decisions that balance near-term business needs with long-term scalability and maintainability. You will think across systems — considering performance at scale, multi-business extensibility, and integration with diverse data sources and downstream services. You will lead technical designs independently, engage actively in design reviews, and provide substantive code review feedback that raises the bar for the team.
Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with operations teams, business stakeholders, Retail promotion platform teams, and partner engineering organizations. You will develop a deep understanding of customer workflows and pain points, translating them into well-designed, reliable solutions. You will champion operational excellence through proactive monitoring, incident response, and identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Beyond individual delivery, you will help grow the team — mentoring junior engineers, contributing to development best practices, and driving technical improvements that increase the team's overall velocity and reliability. Success in this role means consistently shipping high-quality features that advance our promotional capabilities while setting a strong example for engineering craft and customer focus.
