Summary

As part of our Mac/Input Devices Engineering team, you will help craft creative input devices solutions that facilitate people communicating with multiple devices. You will work across disciplines to transform improved hardware elements into a single, integrated design. You will help us innovate new technologies that continuously outperform the previous iterations. By collaborating with other product development groups across Apple, you will push the industry boundaries of what a Mac/input device can do and improve the product experience for our customers across the world. The Mac/Input Devices Engineering team at Apple produces innovative and highly reliable systems for Apple product lines. Tightly integrated with Product Development, Operations, Industrial Design and Reliability Testing groups, you will help coordinate and execute the overall product designs from beginning to end.

Description

- Brainstorms design concepts and executes design concepts in all phases of a development cycle - Generates innovative designs with cross-functional teams, including detailed written specifications, drawings and tolerance analysis - Defines and executes design validation and characterization from prototype bring-up to product testing - Develops designs and processes with external vendors, acting as product development technical liaison among vendors - Communicates multi-functionally on design directions and requirements - Manages and tracks multiple priorities within schedule requirements and drives multiple vendors towards common project goals - Conducts design reviews and drives file release process - Drives failure analyses and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions - Drives design towards Apple's cosmetic requirements - Communicates status effectively throughout the team

Minimum Qualifications

BS/MS/PhD in engineering, science or related field Effective communications in both Mandarin and English Design and 3D CAD experience, or EE/SW development experience Data-driven and detail-orientated. Self-driving and quick learning

Preferred Qualifications

Candidate who can spend over 8 months for the internship is preferred Hands-on experience with PCB design, board bring-up, and lab debugging. Ability to direct or support the development of custom lab tools and test fixtures. Proficiency in data processing and rapid tool development (e.g., Python, C/C++) leveraging AI-assisted coding. Strong interest in applying GenAI to automate workflows and solve complex engineering issues. Experience defining and executing design validation activities. Familiarity with operating a variety of metrology equipment and applying scientific methods to physical testing. Deep knowledge of root cause analysis (RCA), experimental design, and statistical data analysis. Understanding of GD&T principles, with specific attention to proper datum establishment and 1D/3D tolerance analysis for electro-mechanical integration.
