Description
You will architect, build, and maintain scalable test automation infrastructure and custom backend tooling to ensure the highest standards of quality across Apple's global retail ecosystem. Working closely with cross-functional development, product, and business partners, you will establish end-to-end testing strategies spanning eCommerce services, enterprise SAP workflows, and web/mobile platforms. You will drive quality organization-wide by embedding robust automation into CI/CD pipelines, establishing QA standards, and advocating for shift-left testing practices.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, design, and maintain scalable, modular test automation frameworks (Java-based) for backend REST APIs, enterprise SAP workflows, and web/mobile applications.
Build custom test harnesses, execution infrastructure, and backend tooling using Java and Spring Boot to support multi-threaded, high-throughput testing environments.
Integrate comprehensive automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes) to enable continuous deployment across retail platform environments.
Lead and coordinate cross-functional QA initiatives across concurrent project releases with onshore and offshore engineering teams.
Partner with Product Managers, Developers, and Stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust end-to-end test data and execution strategies.
Establish organization-wide QA standards and automation best practices, conduct technical risk assessments, and present quality updates to Senior Management.
Advocate for shift-left testing practices and testability in software design, monitor quality metrics, and proactively resolve systemic environment blockers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Demonstrated success architecting automated test frameworks for backend REST APIs (REST Assured, Karate) and web/mobile interfaces (Playwright, Selenium, Appium, XCUITest).
Proven track record with enterprise integration or SAP workflow automation tools such as Worksoft or Tosca.
In-depth mastery of SDLC/STLC methodologies, test data management, and CI/CD ecosystems (Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to articulate complex technical risks and test strategies to Senior Management and cross-functional partners.
5+ years of hands-on software development expertise in Java, including building applications and tooling with Spring Boot or equivalent frameworks.
3+ years of leadership or coordination experience managing cross-functional QA initiatives across global engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Background testing large-scale eCommerce or enterprise retail platforms (e.g., apple.com/shop).
Proficiency in Python for secondary test data manipulation, automation scripting, and custom utility development.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for building distributed test execution environments.
Understanding of event-driven architectures, messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and micro-services validation.
Exposure to AI/ML-assisted testing tools, GenAI integrations, and modern smart automation frameworks.
Demonstrated ability conducting performance, load, and scalability testing across distributed backend systems.
7+ years of professional tenure in software development and test automation.
