About interviewing at Apple

One of tech's least standardized loops: you interview for a specific team, and every stage belongs to it. Recruiter/hiring-manager screen, one to three 45–60 minute Coderpad coding screens, a system design round shaped by Apple's reliability and privacy constraints, and a behavioral round — then a panel debrief. There is no central question bank; questions map to the team's real stack.

Description

Candidate should be a self-starting, upbeat individual with excellent communication skills, able to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization. You have years of experience designing and implementing full-stack solutions: building scalable backend services in Java/Spring and delivering rich, interactive web applications in modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (such as Angular or React). You excel at defining robust data interfaces, designing high-throughput data pipelines and storage layers, and working closely with designers and product managers to bring polished user experiences to life. The ability to be an excellent team player under tight deadline constraints in addition to tackling complex technical problems with imaginative solutions is key to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and deploy resilient, high-scale full-stack applications and services. Architect and maintain backend microservices using Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot), integrating with distributed datastores and caching layers (Cassandra, Redis, Solr). Build streaming data pipelines and event-driven architectures leveraging Apache Kafka. Develop clean, responsive, and maintainable web frontends using modern TypeScript/JavaScript and UI frameworks (Angular, React, or similar). Design and document clean RESTful and event-driven APIs connecting web clients to distributed backend systems. Partner with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements, system contracts, and technical roadmaps. Uphold high standards for code quality through unit/integration testing, automated CI/CD pipelines, comprehensive code reviews, and observability instrumentation.

Minimum Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 4+ years of professional software development experience in full-stack engineering. Strong proficiency in Java and modern backend frameworks (such as Spring / Spring Boot). Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript and experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., Angular, React). Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, RESTful web services, and object-oriented / functional design principles. Experience writing automated tests across the stack (unit, integration, and end-to-end).

Preferred Qualifications

MS in Computer Science or related field. 6+ years of relevant full-stack software development experience. Hands-on experience with distributed data technologies: Apache Cassandra, Apache Solr (or Elasticsearch/Lucene), Redis, and Apache Kafka. Deep expertise in asynchronous and reactive architectures, high-concurrency systems, and low-latency data retrieval. Experience with web performance profiling, accessibility standards, and modern build toolchains. Background in media, digital asset management, or video streaming platforms.
