As the engineering manager for the Wi-Fi Peer to Peer software development team, you’ll shape the technical direction and grow the people who make decisions influencing the peer to peer connectivity experience on products used by hundreds of millions of people every day, across the world. This role is responsible for leading a team of software engineers who refine existing features and develop new capabilities within the Wi-Fi peer to peer stack, addressing both new and existing use cases across Apple’s product lineup. You’ll set technical direction for the team, including leveraging cutting-edge AI and machine learning tools to improve product quality and streamline development and triage processes. The position requires driving cross-functional projects involving collaboration with teams inside and outside Apple, while also owning people-management responsibilities — hiring, mentoring, career development, and performance management for your team.Key Responsibilities
Lead, grow, and retain a team of software engineers, setting clear goals and providing regular coaching and career development Own the roadmap and technical direction for key Wi-Fi peer to peer features, balancing short-term fixes with long-term architectural health Build professional relationships and trust among key cross-functional stakeholders across hardware, firmware, carrier, and vendor teams Take a holistic view of customer issues and guide the team toward smart, scalable solutions deployed to large user populations Drive planning, prioritization, and execution rigor across multiple concurrent projects Represent the team in cross-org reviews and decisions, and escalate/resolve blockers on the team’s behalf Champion engineering best practices, code quality, and the adoption of AI/ML tooling to improve velocity and triage efficiencyMinimum Qualifications
You have experience managing or leading a software engineering team, with a track record of growing engineers and delivering through others You’re experienced in wireless connectivity SW development You have experience delivering SW features on large-scale deployments, and maintaining and polishing shipped software over multiple years You have experience with Swift/C/C++, Python, data interpretation, and telemetry Deep IP networking knowledge Experience using AI/ML to enhance product quality and streamline development and triage processes Strong ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, communicate clearly, and drive multiple projects across teams You’re laser-focused on the smallest details that are meaningful to our customersPreferred Qualifications
Demonstrated curiosity, courage, innovation, and discipline, both personally and in how you cultivate it in your team You have experience with Wi-Fi Prior experience building or scaling a team within a large organization You’re obsessively passionate and inquisitive, seeking to tackle everyday problems in innovative ways — and able to instill that mindset in a teamMore engineering roles at Apple
