We are seeking a Wireless Network Reliability Engineer to spearhead innovation and deliver cutting-edge solutions to Apple’s premier retail stores. As a Wireless Network Reliability Engineer, you’ll solve, design, and implement wireless infrastructure across Apple Retail Stores, working with IEEE 802.11 standards, encryption protocols, 802.1x, RADIUS, and EAP-TLS, handling multi-vendor solutions. As a Tier 3 escalation point your role involves addressing complex networking challenges, collaborating with vendors, and partnering with Engineering and Architecture to evaluate new technologies. The role requires deep technical skills, a collaborative spirit, curiosity, persistence and a focus on operational excellence.Key Responsibilities
Design, plan, and deploy enterprise-grade wireless network infrastructure (Wi-Fi 6/6E/7, cellular, and private 5G) across store, campus, and branch environments Develop and maintain wireless network standards, reference designs, and technical documentation Conduct site surveys (passive and active) to assess RF environments and produce detailed heat maps and deployment recommendations Evaluate and recommend wireless hardware, software, and vendor solutions aligned with business requirements and long-term strategy Configure and manage RF policies, SSIDs, VLANs, QoS, band steering, and roaming parameters to ensure optimal performance Integrate wireless infrastructure with wired LAN, network access control (NAC), and security platforms Test recommend and Perform firmware upgrades, patch management, and lifecycle maintenance across the wireless fleet Serve as the escalation point (Tier 3) for complex wireless issues affecting connectivity, throughput, roaming, or RF interference Conduct in-depth RF spectrum analysis, packet captures, and protocol-level diagnostics to resolve performance degradation Proactively monitor network health using tools such as Ekahau, AirMagnet, or vendor dashboards, and tune infrastructure to meet SLO targets Analyze traffic patterns and capacity trends to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives Evaluate emerging wireless technologies and industry trends to inform the team's roadmap (e.g., Wi-Fi 7) Author and maintain internal runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge-base articles to build team capability Participation in global team on call escalation support rotation and periodically perform scheduled change requests outside of standard business hours Domestic US travel maybe requiredMinimum Qualifications
7+ years in network engineering; 4+ years focused on wireless solutions, including IEEE 802.11 standards, encryption, WIDS, rogue detection, 802.1x, OWE, RADIUS, and EAP-TLS Experienced in high-density wireless network deployments Familiar with wireless technologies from Cisco, Aruba (Wireless Controller, AOS10, IAP, Airwave, ClearPass), Mist Wireless, Meraki Wireless, Cisco ISE, AirOS, IOS-XE, Cisco DNAC, or Splunk Experienced with wireless tools such as Spectrum Analyzers, Protocol Analyzers, RF Planning tools, and Site Survey Tools Experienced with of TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6), routing, and switching Knowledgeable in wireless client chipset/driver and RF engineering with consideration of regional frequency and power regulationsPreferred Qualifications
Over 10 years of hands-on experience with wireless solutions and wireless network infrastructure Experienced with in automation, tooling, and scripting, with preferred expertise in Ansible and Python Experience in leveraging AI and prompt engineering to manage large datasets to find and solve application, network or RF issues. Certifications CWNA/CWDP/CWSP, Cisco CCNP Wireless / CCIE, Aruba ACMP/ACEP, or equivalent Willingness to participate in scheduled off-hour on-call support several weeks per year,. Active industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Fortinet NSE / FCSS / FCP, or equivalent credentials.
