About interviewing at Bloomberg

Three to five stages over four to seven weeks: a recruiter screen where a generic 'Why Bloomberg?' is an early exit, one or two HackerRank CodePair phone screens on LeetCode-medium DSA, then a ~4-hour virtual onsite of two harder coding rounds (graphs, trees, DP — you explain correctness without running code), a practical finance-flavored system design round for mid/senior roles, a hiring-manager deep-dive on past technical decisions, and a short HR close. Teams run their own processes (some add a PR-style code-review round; some skip design), and you can interview with multiple teams.

Description

About the team

Bloomberg’s CTO Office is the future-looking technical and product arm of Bloomberg L.P. We envision, design, and prototype the next generation of infrastructure, hardware, and applications that power the Bloomberg Terminal and beyond. Our work spans AI platforms, cloud infrastructure, open-source stewardship, and generative AI innovation.

For over a decade, Bloomberg has been at the forefront of applying Artificial Intelligence, ML, and NLP to financial intelligence, powering products in sentiment analysis, classification, document understanding, recommendation, and generative AI. Critical to this effort is our growing ecosystem of AI Quality Platforms, which provides the critical infrastructure to evaluate, observe, improve, and govern AI systems in production that allow Bloomberg to build trustworthy AI products by design.

What's in it for you

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to shape the future of Bloomberg’s GenAI quality infrastructure. In this role, you will define and execute the foundational capabilities that enable teams across Bloomberg to develop trusted, reliable, and measurable GenAI-powered products at scale.

In this role, you will focus on the end-to-end user experiences and drive the strategy and roadmap for new platform capabilities and integrations that make it easier for teams to evaluate AI systems, detect and remediate failures, and incorporate human oversight where it matters most.

You will play a key role in establishing the standards, frameworks, and tooling that enable GenAI products to move from prototypes to production-ready experiences that deliver measurable value to customers. You will join a group of highly technical product managers that work on a range of adjacent projects around AI application development, and collaborate to deliver a cohesive end-to-end experience. You will interact very closely with internal stakeholders from product, engineering, and UX. This is a high-leverage role in a very cross-functional environment, so you’ll need to be comfortable wearing many hats and balancing technical expertise with business acumen.

Why this matters

The next generation of AI systems will need to continuously evaluate themselves, detect failures, improve from feedback, and know when expert human judgment is needed. You will help define the strategy and roadmap for the quality infrastructure that will make this possible, ensuring Bloomberg’s GenAI products are reliable, trustworthy, and continuously improving. You will work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and subject matter expert teams across the company to deliver platform capabilities that are optimized for agentic product development.  Your impact will span the entire Agentic AI lifecycle, helping cross-functional product teams build, evaluate, monitor, and improve AI systems with the same rigor and reliability that is expected in the area where Bloomberg operates.

We’ll trust you to

  • Develop a long-term vision and roadmap for Bloomberg’s GenAI quality infrastructure and deliver foundational capabilities that enable evaluation and remediation of complex multi-agent and multi-tool systems across all finance domains.

  • Anticipate evolving needs and opportunities for AI quality and translate them into scalable platform capabilities that serve teams across Bloomberg

  • Interact with end users and translate product roadmap features and requirements into well-crafted, testable user stories and acceptance test criteria, set priorities and define the scope whilst effectively managing resources.

  • Work closely with stakeholders across the company to develop an understanding of capabilities, constraints and opportunities, anticipate scale challenges, map business requirements to technical vision, and increase service capabilities to better support internal and external partners.

You’ll need to have

  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management, ideally within AI, platforms, tooling for developers and domain experts, or benchmarking systems

  • Experience with one or more areas of the AI quality stack, such as evaluation, observability, testing, benchmarking, human feedback, safety, or continuous improvement.

  • Strong technical understanding of modern AI systems, including the technical challenges involved in developing Generative AI applications

  • Experience driving cross-functional initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, research, and platform teams to deliver impactful platform capabilities

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate a technical vision and influence across diverse teams

We’d love to see

  • An advanced degree in computer science, data science, HCI, AI, or a related field

  • Knowledge of evaluation methodologies for agentic or Generative AI, including benchmarks, frameworks, and quality metrics.

  • Hands-on experience building, evaluating, or experimenting with AI systems

  • Engagement with the AI research community through publications, conference participation, or presentations

  • Open source involvement or community presence

Why join us

  • Influence how AI products are built across Bloomberg by creating the foundational infrastructure needed to develop high-quality AI products

  • Partner with top-tier engineers, AI researchers, and product leaders to shape the future of agentic AI quality infrastructure

  • Deliver foundational infrastructure at enterprise scale, where technical excellence, reliability and quality are core values
