Recruiter screen, a technical screen (60-minute asynchronous challenge or paired live coding), a short culture-fit questionnaire, then a virtual onsite of about four rounds: fast-paced coding with multiple problems per round, system design scoped to level, a lighter behavioral, and an AI-enabled coding round assessing how you work with a coding assistant.

About
Meta is building the physical infrastructure that powers some of the world's largest and most complex computing systems. As a Hardware Engineer on the Infrastructure Systems team, you will design, develop, and validate server and rack-level hardware solutions that underpin Meta's global data center fleet. In this role, you will work across the full hardware development lifecycle — from architecture definition and component selection through bring-up, characterization, and production qualification — ensuring that Meta's infrastructure hardware meets the performance, reliability, and efficiency demands of hyperscale deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop server, rack, and infrastructure hardware systems including compute, storage, and networking platforms for large-scale data center deployment
- Define hardware architecture and system-level specifications in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, thermal, and firmware engineering teams
- Lead component evaluation and selection, including processors, memory, storage devices, power delivery components, and interconnects
- Conduct hardware bring-up, functional validation, and characterization of prototype systems to verify compliance with design specifications
- Develop and execute hardware validation test plans covering performance, reliability, thermal, and power integrity requirements
- Analyze failure modes and drive root cause investigations for hardware issues identified during validation or production
- Collaborate with supply chain, contract manufacturers, and ODM partners to support design-for-manufacturability reviews and production ramp
- Contribute to hardware design reviews, generating and reviewing technical documentation including specifications, schematics, and test reports
- Work with data center operations and deployment teams to ensure hardware designs meet operational requirements at scale
- Track hardware program milestones, communicate technical risks, and drive resolution across cross-functional stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or a related engineering degree
- 6+ years of experience in hardware systems engineering, including server, rack, or data center infrastructure platforms
- Experience with system-level hardware design and validation across power delivery, thermal management, and signal integrity domains
- Experience defining hardware specifications and working with ODM or OEM partners through the product development lifecycle
- Experience performing root cause analysis and failure investigation on complex hardware systems
- Experience collaborating across firmware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to resolve system-level integration challenges Experience with power efficiency analysis and optimization across rack-scale or fleet-level infrastructure deployment
- M.S. in electrical engineering or computer engineering
- Knowledge of Linux for hardware validation and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with high-speed interconnect technologies such as PCIe, CXL, or Ethernet at the system architecture and design level
- Experience with open compute or other custom server platform development for hyperscale data center environments
- Experience with designing ASIC verification and bring up hardware
- Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for developing and reviewing PCB designs
- Background in hardware platform bring-up and qualification for large-scale production environments
