About
Meta is seeking an engineer to join our Release to Production (RTP) team. Our servers and data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure operates efficiently to deliver our innovative services. The RTP team is responsible for the Hardware Lifecycle of all Meta servers including pre-production hands-on system and hardware debugging and stress testing, enabling production-ready system monitoring, automated provisioning and automated remediation of issues. RTP Engineers work closely with hardware designers, ODMs, component vendors, capacity engineering, production engineering, Meta services, and data center operations teams to test systems before release to our production data centers, and to track the health and lifecycle of servers in production.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external ODM/Vendors to deliver a successful project from NPI to MP
- During project development: Review test plans with ODMs based on hardware system/rack design. Work closely with ODMs on ensuring test execution quality and schedule. Actively examine test results and lead system level debug with ODMs and Vendors when projects require it
- Create experiments and tooling to detect and diagnose hardware/firmware/software health issues. Troubleshoot, diagnose and root-cause system failures and isolate the components/failure scenarios while working with internal & external stakeholders
- Develop visibility through data visualization and implement systemic solutions to hardware health issues
- Communicate with internal teams on project validation and issue investigation status
- Drive necessary discussion with external and internal teams on test specification and methodologies to improve test quality continuously
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of work experience and hardware system knowledge especially on CPU, GPU, NIC, DDR, etc
- Solid system/rack level debug/troubleshooting experience with a clear systematic approach
- Fluent in English, as the role requires daily cross-functional communication with global internal teams and external partners
- Experience working through full life cycle for different server system/data center products
- 2+ years with Linux and scripting
- Experience in changing system configurations and measuring change impact 4+ years of experience scripting automation in Python or PHP or Perl
- 4+ years of experience in full system technologies (including PCIe)
- Familiarity with lab equipment, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, air flow chambers
- 2+ years of experience in 24x7 Production support at scale (e.g. - 10K storage servers and over 100K HDD)
- ASIC development (Silicon bring-up, characterization)
- Preferred experience with both HW and FW on server products
