About interviewing at Meta

Recruiter screen, a technical screen (60-minute asynchronous challenge or paired live coding), a short culture-fit questionnaire, then a virtual onsite of about four rounds: fast-paced coding with multiple problems per round, system design scoped to level, a lighter behavioral, and an AI-enabled coding round assessing how you work with a coding assistant.

Description

About

Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Display Integration Lead to drive the end-to-end integration of advanced display systems into next-generation smart-glasses, augmented reality headsets and wearable devices. In this role, you will own the technical strategy for display integration, bridging optical design, display module engineering, and system-level performance to deliver immersive visual experiences across Meta's wearable glass product lines. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners spanning optics, electrical engineering, firmware, and product design to define integration requirements, resolve system-level display challenges, and shape the display roadmap for future spatial computing platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process and equipment for display integration for key modules and/or system
  • Own the display bring-up process from module-level validation through full system integration, coordinating with display panel suppliers, optical component vendors, and internal hardware teams
  • Identify and resolve display system failure modes through root cause analysis, driving corrective actions across optics, electronics, and firmware domains
  • Communicate display integration status, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, enabling informed program decisions
  • Define and drive the display integration strategy and technical roadmap for product programs, aligning optical, electrical, and mechanical subsystems to system-level image quality and performance targets
  • Contribute to organizational strategy by evaluating emerging display technologies for future platforms
  • Mentor other engineers on display integration methodologies and coach teams on optimizing characterization workflows and system-level debugging approaches

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in material science and engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, physics, or relevant technical field, and/or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of experience in display engineering, optical engineering, or display integration
  • 8+ years of integration and process experience with display and optics technologies such as microLED, or LCoS, glass, lens molding, material development, lamination, module and system integration, precision alignment equipment development, automation, etc
  • Experience leading cross-functional hardware integration efforts from display module bring-up through system-level validation and manufacturing release
  • Experience defining display system requirements and translating optical performance specifications into integration and process specs and acceptance criteria
  • Experience identifying root causes of integration failures and driving resolution across optics, process, electrical, and firmware domains Experience with near-eye display systems for VR or AR headsets, including pancake optics, waveguide combiners, or freeform optical architectures
  • Experience evaluating emerging display technologies such as microLED or holographic optical elements for integration into wearable spatial computing devices
  • Track record of contributing to display technology roadmaps and influencing supplier development programs for next-generation consumer wearable products
