About interviewing at NVIDIA

Recruiter screen, a technical screen mixing resume deep-dive with live coding, a hiring-manager conversation, then a panel of three to five 45–60 minute rounds: coding, systems design under hardware constraints, a domain deep-dive, and behavioral. Highly team-specific — you interview directly with the team — with C++ depth expected almost universally and decisions sometimes taking five-plus weeks after the panel.

Description

NVIDIA wants an individual SOC system architect to represent the product team technically in client PC ODM and OEM engagements. The position works in close partnership with internal applications engineering teams and partners from multiple areas. This role helps drive alignment on requirements, tradeoffs, and system‑level decisions to deliver optimal end‑to‑end solutions for both NVIDIA and our partners.

What you'll be doing:

  • Serve as a technical representative of the product team in client PC ODM and OEM engagements, working closely with internal application engineers, customer engineering teams, and cross-functional collaborators to align BOM, system architecture, and product options, while offering informed recommendations on platform capability, cost, and roadmap considerations.

  • Contribute to SOC architecture during early concept definition and system-level build. Work closely with Silicon Architecture and Platform teams to develop architectural intent and guide NVIDIA and external ODM reference build direction.

  • Provide senior-level technical guidance during customer and NVIDIA reference build and form-factor build execution. Ensure architectural intent is fully implemented by aligning scope clearly, resolving issues, and handing off effectively to Product Management and downstream teams.

  • Analyze and compare OEM reference build implementations, evaluating architectural choices, differentiation strategies, and cost implications to inform platform decisions and discussions involving multiple system functions.

  • Synthesize customer use cases, field feedback, and partner input into clear SOC technical requirements and feature proposals, providing actionable feedback to silicon architecture, product architecture, and software teams to inform future platforms, reference builds, and supporting collateral.

What we need to see:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in client systems or platform engineering, with hands‑on contributions to SOC system‑level architectural decisions.

  • Deep technical expertise in client PC platform analysis and technical synthesis from the SOC Silicon development perspective, including evaluating architectural tradeoffs, system configurations, and reference builds to support cross‑functional decision‑making across Product, Platform, Silicon Architecture, and Software teams.

  • Familiarity analyzing data from customers and use-case scenarios, as well as industry-standard benchmarks, to guide internal data collection and technical discussions.

  • Comfortable engaging directly in lab environments when necessary, assisting with the setup and examination of new use-case models and reference build behaviors.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Demonstrated initiative and technical curiosity to independently investigate requirements, validate assumptions, and connect cross-functional inputs.
