About interviewing at Amazon

Recruiter screen and (for most SDE roles) an online assessment, one technical phone screen, then a single-day interview loop of four to six 45–60 minute sessions mixing coding, system design, and Leadership-Principle behavioral rounds. A Bar Raiser from outside the hiring team joins the loop and can veto the hire.

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

As a Tech Training Specialist (DCEO), you will be responsible for delivering technical training programs focused on critical infrastructure systems — electrical, mechanical, UPS, HVAC, generators, and fire suppression — for Data Center External Operations teams. You will manage and conduct initial technical training programs for new hires, ensuring they are properly equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to operate and maintain AWS's mission-critical facility infrastructure.

Key job responsibilities
Training Program Management Design and deliver instructor-led training on critical infrastructure systems including electrical distribution, mechanical systems, UPS, HVAC, generators, and fire suppression. Manage Initial Training program logistics—scheduling, classroom coordination, and lab utilization. Conduct hands-on training on switchgear, generators, cooling systems, and BMS. Maintain instructor certifications and perform certification observations. Monitor trainee progress, address behavioral/policy issues, and maintain accurate training records.

Learning Lab Management Serve as Subject Matter Expert for all critical infrastructure lab equipment and training facilities. Maintain and optimize training spaces including electrical panels, UPS units, HVAC trainers, and generator simulators. Develop SOPs for lab equipment covering electrical, mechanical, and fire suppression systems. Create practical scenarios simulating real-world infrastructure situations and emergencies. Support setup and commissioning of new training labs across regions, and prepare equipment for upcoming sessions.

Program Development & Improvement Collaborate with SMEs to develop and refine training materials. Identify improvements to content and delivery methods. Create supporting documentation for electrical/mechanical systems and emergency procedures. Stay current with latest critical infrastructure technologies and operational practices. Gather and act on feedback from trainees, managers, and instructors to continuously enhance program quality.
