You will conceive, design, and bring into life products that will redefine the user experience. The accessories Product Design team works across a variety of product categories within Apple. We are a dynamic group that tackles new projects and helps guide them from early architecture explorations all the way through mass production. You will collaborate with a wide assortment of cross-functionals teams to create and refine new designs, overcome technical challenges, and produce incredible products.

Description

We are looking to add a highly motivated Product Design engineer to the team. This role is for someone with strong mechanical design fundamentals, an ability to closely collaborate with cross-functional teams, and excellent communication skills. The role will require the ability to deliver outstanding design solutions while balancing multiple priorities on demanding schedules. In addition to the design of parts and assemblies in CAD, you will be responsible for building prototypes, validating their performance, and pursuing continual improvements. As designs mature, you will also work with vendors and contract manufacturers to implement and optimize your designs at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical design with 3D CAD and 2D drawings Building proof of concept prototypes Conducting technical analysis of design performance Creating and presenting slides overviewing technical work and design status Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and achieve project goals Partnering with external vendors and internal teams to optimize designs for function, manufacturability, and cosmetics Reviewing test results, conducting failure analysis, and driving corrective actions Support module and system-level builds International travel up to 20%

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in mechanical engineering, Product Design, or comparable fields 1+ years experience in Product Design or equivalent Familiarity with 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings Fluency with mechanical engineering fundamentals Varied knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods Experience with building prototypes or fabricating parts Knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics

Preferred Qualifications

M.S. in mechanical engineering, product design, or comparable fields 3+ years of professional mechanical engineering or Product Design experience Strong communication and presentation skills Proficiency in 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings Experience with design of consumer electronics, PCBs, and/or flexes Familiarity with high volume mass production processes and challenges Experience working and coordinating with different cross functional engineering disciplines Direct experience with injection molding, CNC, stamping, forming, and/or welding Capability with tolerance analysis and/or geometric tolerancing (GD&T) Experience working with overseas manufacturers Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA)
