About interviewing at Amazon

Recruiter screen and (for most SDE roles) an online assessment, one technical phone screen, then a single-day interview loop of four to six 45–60 minute sessions mixing coding, system design, and Leadership-Principle behavioral rounds. A Bar Raiser from outside the hiring team joins the loop and can veto the hire.

Do you want to directly impact how millions of customers in Japan and across the globe discover, browse, and purchase products on Amazon? Do you enjoy building scalable systems that power seamless shopping experiences across multiple marketplaces?

Amazon's International Stores technology teams in Japan — spanning areas like JP Manga, Search, Stores Tech, and more — build and operate the technology that enables customers worldwide to shop across borders. From product discovery and content experiences, to search relevance, checkout, payments, and delivery, our Japan-based engineering teams drive innovation for Japanese customers while contributing to global platform capabilities shared across dozens of marketplaces.

The technical challenges are diverse — you'll work on systems that handle massive traffic at low latency, support multi-language and multi-currency experiences, and adapt to the unique regulatory and business requirements of different regions. As an SDE Intern, you'll gain broad exposure across the stack and have the opportunity to own meaningful features end-to-end in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.

We also embrace AI as a tool to accelerate how we build and operate software — from AI-assisted coding and automated testing, to intelligent monitoring and issue triage. You'll have the opportunity to both leverage and contribute to AI-driven development practices as part of your day-to-day work.

If you're looking to kickstart your engineering career at global scale, solve real customer problems, and work alongside talented engineers in a collaborative international environment, this internship is a great place to start.
